Activities
To achieve its objectives the association shall:
- Distribute daily news headlines related to maritime and offshore casualties and safety.
- Distribute monthly safety alerts from and between members and organisations such as flag states, port state control, P&I Clubs, the Marine Safety Forum, International Marine Contractors Association, IADC, Step Change In Safety, and other relevant bodies.
- Establish an online wiki to which members may contribute.
- Establish positive relationships with regulatory bodies and relevant government/intergovernment and non-government entities.
- Encourage the inclusion of a maritime casualty investigation element in existing maritime studies programs.
- establish an outreach programme to engage working seafarers.
- Publish a biannual Journal Of Maritime Investigation
- Establish a programme leading to certification “MCIA (Cert)”
- Establish a members-only forum online to encourage discussion and exchange of views.
- Develop and maintain an online database of incident reports and case studies
- Develop and maintain an online database of relevant papers and reports relating to maritime casualty theory and practice.
- Develop a publicly available FAQ and support materials on maritime casualty investigation
- Hold a biennial conference
- Maintain a presence at relevant conferences and exhibitions.
- Publish relevant books and monographs in print and electronic form
