Full membership shall be open to persons professionally involved wholly or significantly in accident investigation and/or emergency response and preparedness covering maritime and/or offshore industries.
Full members shall be entitled to all MCIA services, to participate in the association’s activities, to one vote each in MCIA elections.
Certified Membership shall be awarded to members who have completed an appropriate course and demonstrated relevant competencies to the satisfaction of a certification committee.
Certified Members shall be entitled to append MCIA (cert.) after their names on business cards and in business correspondence, entitled to all MCIA services, to participate in the association’s activities, to one vote each in MCIA elections.
Corporate Membership shall be open to public and private sector organisations involved wholly or partially in investigation of maritime and/or offshore incidents and/or emergency response and preparedness.
Corporate membership entitle up to three nominated company officers, to all MCIA services, to participate in the association’s activities. Corporate members are entitled to one vote per company in MCIA elections.
Seafarer Membership is a special category open to a seafarer of any rank currently employed aboard ship.
Seafarer membership is open to any seafarer currently working aboard ship for a minimum of six months in the current year. A seafarer member shall be entitled to all MCIA services and to participate in the association’s activities, but may not be elected as an association officer or committee member. Seafarer membership does not confer voting rights.
Associate Membership shall be open to those persons who have an interest in maritime/offshore accident investigation but who are not normally involved in such investigation in the course of their profession.

Fees
Full member - $300pa
Certified Member - $300pa*
Corporate – $500pa
Seafarer – $100pa
Associate – $200pa
*There shall be an examination/certification fee, to be decided.
Branches
It is intended that MCIA shall be global in scope. Where a sufficient number of members exist, a minimum of four, and find it convenient, they may, with approval from the MCIA membership committee, form a branch of the association and elect or appoint one member as branch representative and point of communication.
