  • To act as a forum for public and private sector individuals and organisations involved in casualty investigation and safety.
  • To encourage the study of theoretical and practical aspects of investigation methodologies and practices.
  • To examine and explore methodologies for the translation of ‘lessons learned’ into effective, relevant learning tools.
  • To develop and encourage the acceptance of a unified matrix of desired competencies for maritime casualty investigation.
  • To encourage transparency in maritime casualty investigation reports.
  • To actively engage in education of the public through the media and other means regarding maritime casualty investigation.
